SMO – Interim

I have not yet seen a RuMod report for this morning.  The front lines are confusing, but steadily Russia is moving forward.  It was another night of bloody hell for the Ukies.

It is difficult to understand the Ukrainian soldier’s mindset.  They must know by now that their cause is totally lost, not only militarily but also politically, but yet, they still try and break through here and there, and run into small villages with a bunch of tanks and hold the village hostage for only a little time, until they are expelled with Kia and rates of injury that seems unbelievable to the ordinary person.

There is a reason for the current suicide mission though.  And this is that they needed to show some kind of progress, even a small battle.   Today we have the meeting of the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the Ramstein air base in Germany, where the next meeting of Ukrainian sugar daddies is taking place.  We will see how much more money and weapons they want to pour into the Ukraine.   Some of the first reports from this meeting mention $675 million.  (Note, it is not billions).

Blinken apparently made a surprise visit to this Ramstein meeting and a bag full of money.  We’ve seen this before.  Reuters reported that he will announce $2 billion in military funding for Ukraine and 18 other states “that may face Russian aggression in the future,” Reuters reported.  So, what this means is that the collective west is again trying to buy a bloc of supporters in order to remain the Chief Warmongers in the region.

It has become the battle of our times in the collective west country.  Both in terms of Europe and also the US losing their shirts in terms of the back blow of sanctions, as well as complete disbelief in most of the world now, in the strength of the US dollar.  Nobody wants dollars and nobody wants to trade in dollars.  Michael Hudson describes why the dollar still has perceived value and it is a question of the lackeys investing in dollar-type instruments, for a perceived increase in value.  This house of cards is going to tumble in our times.

Sometimes even RT has a good article and analysis.  (They have improved somewhat during the course of the SMO but it is still yellow press).

Dmitry Trenin: Six months into the conflict, what exactly does Russia hope to achieve in Ukraine?  He says that Putin’s latest comments reveal that Moscow’s thinking has shifted and compromise is no longer on the agenda.  I would go with that.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to Ukraine as an “anti-Russian enclave” which has to be removed. He also said that the Russian soldiers taking part in the military operation there were fighting for their “own country.” These statements carry important implications.

Over the last six-plus months, the mantra of the Russian officialdom has been that all aims of the offensive will be reached. On purpose, however, the specific objectives, such as how far Moscow’s forces plan to move into Ukraine, have never been spelled out. This cannot but raise speculation about what the Kremlin is actually hoping to achieve.

The only person who can authoritatively answer that question, however, is the President, and second-guessing him makes no sense. Yet, two things cannot escape close attention. One is the radicalization of Moscow’s position on Ukraine as a result of both Western policies and Kiev’s actions; two is the widening gap between the minimum result of the military campaign that Russia can be satisfied with, and the maximum amount of what the US and its allies can accept.”

Dmitry Polyanskiy, number 2 in the permanent Russian mission to the UN, had this to say.
In our statement today we asked for a UN #SecurityCouncil meeting by the end of the week, preferably tomorrow, on the supplies of lethal weapons by the Western countries to #Ukraine which pose a serious threat to international peace and security.  It’s time for the Council to discuss real issues, not fictitious “filtration” as our Western ex-partners proposed today.
The real war, which is the war between a multipolar and peaceful world, and the unipolar force that wants to own us, is continuing on all fronts.  And at least my focus is there.  Going through the materials coming out from the Eastern Economic Forum, it becomes very clear that there is a large part of our world working on a multipolar and peaceful world.  This assures me that we still have sane and good people in our world today.
A reminder:  China has executed currency swaps in RMB with more than 40 countries. China has an alternative to SWIFT, CIPS is utilized in over 1,300 banks in 103 countries with more than 80 trillion yuan transacted through CIPS in 2021.  Mishustin reported on the process of de-dollarization of the Russian economy. According to him, now the Moscow Exchange trades in 7 pairs with the currencies of friendly countries. “If in January-February of this year the average daily volume of spot transactions in such monetary units was 1 billion 700 million rubles, then in July-August it was already 60 billion,” he said, speaking at the Moscow Financial Forum. The share of settlements in national currencies and on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union is expanding, the Prime Minister stated.
London Paul from the Sirius report states the massive shift in our world as follows:  As ever because the west doesn’t see a world existing outside the G7, Europe and a few others, it continues to be unaware that the Global South is where the vertical growth sectors are and they also want cheap reliable energy from trusted partners, which includes Russia.
The rest of the world outside the collective west is seeking a productive world and not a confrontational world led by fanatics.
Since completing this writing, the RuMod report was issued.  It is carnage.
